Why install a lightweight flywheel?

The lower inertia of the light flywheel results in significantly better and faster throttle response, which improves the car's acceleration. Although engine power does not increase, losses in the drivetrain decrease, which translates into slightly higher power at the wheels. Light flywheels perform very well on winding tracks because the car regains lost corner speed much faster.
