BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 engines are one of the most popular choices for swaps in off-road vehicles and vans – including Jeep (Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee), Nissan Patrol (Y60, Y61), and Mercedes Sprinter (campervans and custom builds). Combining a durable inline-6 diesel with an 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission delivers high torque across a wide RPM range, lower fuel consumption, and driving comfort both off-road and on long trips.
The aluminum gearbox adapter plate was designed to simplify the installation of the ZF 8HP transmission as much as possible. Connecting the engine to the torque converter uses original parts – no additional torque converter adapter plate is needed. For the GS6 manual gearbox, a custom flywheel is required.

Installation should be carried out by professionals with knowledge in engine swaps and car modifications – in workshops and using properly adapted tools.
The adapter installation manual contains only basic knowledge necessary to physically connect the engine with the gearbox outside the car body.
Depending on your specific car, additional modifications may be required, such as adjusting mounts, engine/gearbox mounts, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.
We manufacture our adapters using fully recyclable materials.
To connect the BMW M57 engine with the ZF 8HP gearbox, use the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate and the original (OE) BMW starter ring gear (flexplate) OE 11 22 8 506 670 or 11 22 8 612 144 (not included) together with the torque converter from your ZF 8HP gearbox (6 mounting bolts). No additional torque converter adapter plate is needed.
When connecting to a GS6 6-speed manual gearbox, a custom flywheel is required (not available from PMC Motorsport).
For installation, use the original BMW M57 OE starter motor (not included) – replacement is not needed, but grinding of the starter motor housing is required.

To connect the BMW M57 engine with a GS6 6-speed manual gearbox, a custom flywheel must be used. The flywheel is not available from PMC Motorsport.
