Aluminum adapter plate designed for joining (engine swap / conversion) the Nissan RB20 RB25 RB26 RB30 engine with a manual or automatic ZF (ZF Friedrichshafen) / Getrag gearbox from BMW. The aluminum gearbox adapter plate has been designed to simplify gearbox installation as much as possible, avoiding radical modifications such as cutting off the entire gearbox bellhousing – only preparing an opening for the starter motor is required. The adapter plate requires the use of a custom PMC Motorsport flywheel matched to the chosen gearbox (sold separately).

PMC Motorsport adapter plate installation manual

The adapter plate installation manual contains only basic knowledge required to physically connect the engine to the gearbox outside the vehicle body.

Depending on the vehicle model, additional modifications may be required, such as adjusting mounts, bushings/mount pads, the engine firewall, gearbox tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.

Fully recyclable materials

We manufacture our adapter plates from 100% recyclable materials.

Installation instructions

The gearbox adapter plate requires the use of a custom PMC Motorsport flywheel matched to the chosen gearbox (not included).

On ZF-5 (ZF 310 / ZF 320) and Getrag 250G / 420G gearboxes, a slight enlarging (grinding) of the two upper mounting holes in the gearbox bellhousing is required – this modification does not affect engine and gearbox centering.

Petrol engine gearboxes (ZF-5 and Getrag 250G / 420G) and diesel engine gearboxes (M57 GS5-39DZ) share the same bolt pattern but differ in the mounting angle on the adapter plate. If the gearbox is positioned at the wrong angle after tightening, correct the installation – a petrol gearbox was installed into the diesel gearbox bolt pattern or vice versa.

Which gearboxes fit this adapter plate?

Is the flywheel included in the set?

No. The adapter plate requires a custom PMC Motorsport flywheel matched to the chosen gearbox. The flywheel (or torque converter adapter for ZF 8HP gearboxes) is sold separately.

Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?

No. The adapter plate was designed to avoid cutting the bellhousing – only an opening for the starter motor needs to be prepared.

Does the ZF-5 / Getrag gearbox align with all holes on the adapter plate?

The PMC Motorsport adapter plate is the most versatile adapter on the market, supporting virtually every BMW gearbox. While designing it, we decided on certain compromises – on Getrag 250 / Getrag 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF-5 gearboxes, the two upper holes need to be slightly ground in the gearbox bellhousing. This modification does not affect engine and gearbox centering.

The gearbox is positioned at the wrong angle after tightening – what to do?

Petrol engine gearboxes (ZF-5 and Getrag 250G / 420G) and diesel engine gearboxes (M57 GS5-39DZ) share the same bolt pattern but differ in the mounting angle on the adapter plate. If the gearbox is at the wrong angle, it was installed into the holes intended for the other type – the installation must be corrected.

Which starter motor should be used?

OE Nissan RB starter motor. The starter motor is not included in the set.

Does the adapter plate also fit the ZF 8HP automatic gearbox?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic gearbox, a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter is used instead of a flywheel.

Does the price include customs duties for shipments outside the European Union?

No. The product price and shipping quote do not include customs duties or additional charges that may occur in the destination country.
