Adapter enabling the connection (swap / conversion) of the Mercedes-Benz M104 engine (inline-six 2.8 / 3.2 and AMG versions 3.4 / 3.6) with the modern 8-speed automatic transmission ZF 8HP (ZF Friedrichshafen) sourced from BMW – 8HP50 / 8HP51, 8HP70, 8HP75, and 8HP76, in RWD and xDrive versions. The kit includes an aluminum gearbox adapter plate with mounting bolts and a torque converter adapter.

The aluminum gearbox adapter plate has been designed to make installing the ZF 8HP transmission as straightforward as possible. The torque converter adapter (included) connects the Mercedes-Benz M104 automatic version flexplate (starter ring gear) to the torque converter of your ZF 8HP gearbox. Gearbox adapter plate thickness: 30 mm (1.18").

Installation should be performed by professionals experienced in engine swaps and vehicle modifications – in workshops and using properly suited tools.
The adapter installation manual covers only the basic knowledge required to physically mate the engine and transmission outside the vehicle body.
Depending on the specific car, additional modifications may be required, such as adapting engine mounts, bushings, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.
We manufacture our adapters from fully recyclable materials.
Installation manual
The gearbox adapter plate is installed first onto the engine. To mate the Mercedes-Benz M104 engine with the ZF 8HP transmission, you must use the flexplate (automatic transmission flywheel) from the automatic version Mercedes-Benz M104 OE 111 030 07 12 (not included), the PMC Motorsport torque converter adapter (included), and the torque converter from your ZF 8HP transmission.
To mount the adapter, use the original Mercedes-Benz (OE) starter motor from the M104 engine (not included).
Mount the torque converter adapter to the flexplate (automatic flywheel) from the automatic version Mercedes-Benz M104, and then bolt the ZF 8HP torque converter to it.

How to connect the ZF 8HP torque converter to the Mercedes-Benz M104 engine?
Using the PMC Motorsport torque converter adapter included in the kit. The torque converter adapter bolts to the automatic version flexplate Mercedes-Benz M104 OE 111 030 07 12, and is then connected to the torque converter of your ZF 8HP transmission.
What additional parts do I need to purchase for installation?
The automatic version flexplate (starter ring gear / flywheel) Mercedes-Benz M104 OE 111 030 07 12 and the original Mercedes-Benz starter motor from the M104 engine. To control the transmission, you will also need a TCU controller with wiring harness and an 8HP shifter – both items are available in our offer. These parts are not included in the kit.
