This kit is designed for transverse VAG group engines (Audi, Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda) paired with the 6-speed manual 02M transmission and 4motion / Quattro four-wheel-drive systems.
Replacing the heavy, factory dual-mass flywheel (DMF) with an ultra-lightweight aluminum alternative drastically reduces the rotating mass of the crank-train system. The result is an instantaneous throttle response, quicker boost building, and faster speed recovery when exiting tight corners – both on the racetrack and during dynamic daily driving.

Switching from a factory dual-mass flywheel (DMF) to a rigid single-mass flywheel (SMF) delivers a radical improvement in performance at the expense of eliminating factory dampening elements. In sports vehicles, this is a highly desirable characteristic providing a direct connection to the drivetrain. However, it can result in a natural, louder mechanical noise from the transmission and bearings while idling.

Does the PMC Clutch Stage 1 kit fit without modifications (Plug & Play)?
Yes. The mounting points of the PMC Motorsport aluminum flywheel perfectly match the factory dual-mass flywheel with OE VAG part number 06A 105 266 P. Installation requires no modifications to the engine block or the 02M gearbox housing.
What are the benefits of the flywheel's 4.44 kg weight?
Reducing the flywheel weight to 4.44 kg (10.93 lb) drastically decreases the rotational inertia of the engine. In practice, this means the 1.8T engine revs up much faster, offering instant throttle response and enhanced dynamics during gear changes.
Will I need to buy a whole new PMC flywheel in the future?
No. The PMC flywheel is equipped with a replaceable steel friction plate (part number: 0.10327.02). If the surface wears down after intense driving, you only need to purchase and replace the steel insert, significantly lowering running costs.
