The flywheel has been manufactured from aluminum and cast iron and is fully recyclable.

! Custom flywheel requires the use of a ring gear / flywheel from a Mercedes-Benz M156 automatic (OE part number: a2730300312) - not included in the kit!

1. What starter should be used with the PMC Motorsport Mercedes-Benz M156 - BMW adapter?

For mounting the adapter, a Mercedes-Benz OE M156 starter must be used.

2. What ring gear should be used for the PMC Motorsport Mercedes-Benz M156 - BMW flywheel?

When installing the PMC Motorsport Mercedes-Benz M156 - BMW flywheel, the ring gear (flywheel) from the automatic version of the Mercedes-Benz M156 (OE part number: a2730300312) should be used.

3. The GETRAG 250 / GETRAG 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF5 gearbox does not fit all the holes of the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter.

(Applies to adapters manufactured after 2022) The PMC Motorsport adapter is the most universal adapter available on the market, supporting practically every BMW gearbox. When designing the adapter, we decided to make some compromises. This is the case with the gearboxes: GETRAG 250 / GETRAG 420 / ZF 310 / GETRAG 420G, ZF 320 / ZF5, where two upper holes need to be slightly ground in the gearbox housing/bellhousing. This modification does not affect the centering of the engine and gearbox.

4. Can I use the gearbox adapter for a 6-speed GS6-53DZ / GS6-53BZ gearbox?

Yes, the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes available on the market (applies to adapters manufactured from April 2022). If you want to change the gearbox, simply replace the flywheel and clutch disc.

5. Can I use the PMC Motorsport Mercedes-Benz M156 - BMW gearbox adapter for ZF 8HP?

Yes, the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes available on the market (applies to adapters manufactured from April 2025). If you want to switch to an automatic ZF 8HP gearbox, you must replace the standard flywheel with an 8HP converter adapter (PMC Motorsport).

6. What clutch can I use with the PMC Motorsport flywheel?

The Mercedes-Benz M156 - BMW ZF5 flywheel was designed for clutch pressure plates from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / BMW E46 M3 / Sachs Performance 883082.001243. Very often, with our kit, clutches from ACT / Spec / Tanaci are used (it is important that the custom clutch pressure plate also fits the BMW OE flywheel: BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). For your gearbox, you must use a clutch disc with the appropriate spline, a dedicated release bearing kit, and a clutch slave cylinder.
