Installing the flywheel requires using an automatic flexplate (ring gear) Mercedes-Benz OE A2730300312 (not included). Crankshaft bolts are included in the kit. The release bearing and clutch fork remain from your gearbox – if using a dual-position release bearing, use the 28.5 mm position. The gearbox guide tube (BMW OE 23 11 7 501 714) must be shortened – according to the graphic below. An original Mercedes-Benz M113 starter motor must be used (OE, not included).

The automatic flexplate (ring gear) Mercedes-Benz OE A2730300312 and an OEM Mercedes-Benz M113 starter motor (OE). You also need a 184 mm (7.25") POT-type clutch assembly with 32.5x35-26N discs and a clutch slave cylinder dedicated to the GS6-53DZ gearbox – the release bearing and clutch fork are retained from your gearbox. These components are not included in the kit.

Which clutch fits the PMC flywheel?

The Ultralight Race flywheel is designed for 184 mm (7.25") POT-type clutches. It was modeled after Tilton OT-II Cerametallic 7.25" pressure plates – twin-disc 66-312xxx and triple-disc 66-013xxx. Other clutches meeting Tilton dimensional standards will also fit. The clutch discs must have 32.5x35-26N splines (26 teeth) matching the GS6-53DZ gearbox – e.g., Tilton 64185-8-VV-55 (twin-disc) or Tilton 64185-4-VTV-55 (triple-disc). The pressure plate, clutch discs, release bearing, clutch fork, and clutch slave cylinder are not included in the kit.

Does the gearbox require modification?

Yes. When installing a 184 mm clutch, the gearbox guide tube (BMW OE 23 11 7 501 714) must be shortened; if using a dual-position release bearing, it must be set to the 28.5 mm position. The procedure is shown in the graphic in the "Installation Instructions" section.

Is this kit suitable for a daily driver?

No. The Ultralight Race flywheel with a 7.25" multi-disc clutch is strictly intended for motorsport and drifting. For a vehicle used on a daily basis, we recommend the adapter version with a flywheel for a 240 mm BMW pressure plate.

Which starter motor should be used?

An original Mercedes-Benz M113 (OE) starter motor. The starter motor is not included in the kit.

Is this adapter also compatible with the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate is universal and fits most BMW transmissions (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel is simply replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.

What does the kit include?

An aluminum gearbox adapter plate with mounting bolts, custom PMC Motorsport Ultralight Race 184 mm flywheel with replaceable friction surface, crankshaft bolts, and pressure plate bolts. The clutch assembly, release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included – they should be selected to match your specific gearbox.

Can I purchase only the adapter plate or only the flywheel?

Yes. Every component in the kit is available for purchase separately.

Does the price include customs duties for shipments outside the EU?

No. Product prices and shipping quotes do not include customs duties, import tariffs, or local handling fees that may be charged in the destination country.

Can I purchase with 0% VAT?

Is the included installation manual sufficient for a complete swap?

The manual strictly covers the mechanical mating of the engine and gearbox outside the vehicle chassis. Depending on your chassis, additional custom fabrication may be necessary (engine mounts, crossmembers, firewall modification, transmission tunnel clearance, driveshaft length). Professional installation is strongly advised.

Please note that a lightweight single-mass flywheel delivers immediate, uncompromising throttle response at the expense of eliminating OEM damping elements. This creates a much more direct drivetrain connection, which may result in a noticeable increase in transmission gear chatter and drivetrain noise. This is a normal and expected characteristic in performance and motorsport applications resulting from rigid drivetrain coupling.
