Installation manual

To install the flywheel, it is necessary to use the automatic transmission flexplate / ring gear Toyota / Lexus OE 32101-50010 and the 4.5 mm spacer washer between the engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-50010 (not included). Tighten the flywheel to the crankshaft using the supplied bolts to a torque of 72 Nm (53.1 lb⋅ft) using threadlocker. The release bearing and clutch fork remain from your gearbox – in the case of a dual-position bearing, use the 28.5 mm position. The gearbox guide tube (BMW OE 23 11 7 501 714) must be shortened – as shown in the diagram below. To mount the adapter plate, use the original Toyota UZ starter motor (OE, not included).

Does the gearbox bellhousing need to be cut?

No. The adapter is designed to eliminate the need for cutting the bellhousing – only a cutout for the starter motor needs to be prepared.

What additional parts do I need to purchase for installation?

Toyota / Lexus UZ automatic version flexplate / ring gear, OE 32101-50010, and 4.5 mm spacer washer between engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-50010. You will also need the clutch slave cylinder dedicated to your gearbox and the original Toyota UZ starter motor (OE) – the release bearing and clutch fork are reused from your gearbox. Does the gearbox need to be modified?

Yes. When installing a 184 mm clutch, the gearbox guide tube (BMW OE 23 11 7 501 714) must be shortened, and if using a dual-position release bearing, set it to the 28.5 mm position. The procedure is illustrated in the "Installation manual" section.

Is the kit suitable for daily driving?

No. The Race Stage 2 kit with high-performance Tilton clutch is designed exclusively for motorsport and drifting. For a daily-driven car, we recommend the adapter version with a flywheel designed for a BMW 240 mm pressure plate.

Which starter motor should be used?

Original Toyota UZ starter motor (OE). The starter motor is not included in the kit.

Does the adapter also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapters produced after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.

What does the kit include?

Is the included manual sufficient for installation?

The manual covers mating the engine to the gearbox outside the chassis. Depending on the car, additional modifications may be required: engine mounts, bushings, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length. We recommend professional installation.
