Adapter enabling the connection (swap / conversion) of Mercedes-Benz M156, M157, M177, M272, M273, and M278 engines (V6 and V8, naturally aspirated and biturbo, including AMG units) with the modern 8-speed automatic transmission ZF 8HP (ZF Friedrichshafen) sourced from BMW – 8HP70, 8HP75, and 8HP76, in RWD and xDrive versions. The kit includes an aluminum gearbox adapter plate, adapter mounting bolts, and crankshaft bolts.

The ZF 8HP provides 8 gears, ultra-fast shift times (approx. 0.2 s), and high torque capacity – an excellent combination with Mercedes engines, both in a daily driver and in a drift or motorsport project.
In our offer, you will also find an 8HP shifter / gear lever and a TCU controller with wiring harness to control the ZF 8HP transmission.
The aluminum gearbox adapter plate has been designed to make installing the ZF 8HP transmission as straightforward as possible. To connect to the ZF 8HP torque converter, the automatic version flexplate (starter ring gear / flywheel) from Mercedes-Benz is used. Gearbox adapter plate thickness: 20 mm (0.78").

Installation should be performed by professionals experienced in engine swaps and vehicle modifications – in workshops and using properly suited tools.
The adapter installation manual covers only the basic knowledge required to physically mate the engine and transmission outside the vehicle body.
Depending on the specific car, additional modifications may be required, such as adapting engine mounts, bushings, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.
We manufacture our adapters from fully recyclable materials.
Installation manual
The gearbox adapter plate is installed first onto the engine. To mate the Mercedes-Benz engine with the ZF 8HP transmission, you must use the flexplate (automatic transmission flywheel) from the automatic version Mercedes-Benz OE A 273 030 03 12, A 273 030 04 12, or A 278 030 01 12 (not included) and the torque converter from your ZF 8HP transmission.
To mount the adapter, use the original Mercedes-Benz (OE) starter motor from the respective engine (not included).
