Adapter kit designed to combine (swap / convert) the Volvo Modular "White block" T5 / T6 engine (5- and 6-cylinder inline 2.0–3.0 engines, naturally aspirated and turbo) with the ZF GS6-53DZ HGD / JGA / HGA 6-speed manual gearbox found in BMW models with M57N / M57N2 diesel engines (E60 / E61 525d, 530d, E46 330d), as well as the xDrive GS6X53DZ HGE / JGB / HGB versions. Aluminum gearbox adapter plate engineered to simplify transmission installation to the maximum, eliminating radical modifications such as cutting off the entire bellhousing – only trimming the starter motor opening is required. Custom flywheels dedicated to PMC Motorsport adapters are made of lightweight aluminum with a replaceable friction plate, precision-checked and dynamic-balanced prior to dispatch. Flywheel designed for a 240 mm clutch pressure plate (GS5-39DZ / GS6-53DZ / BZ BMW OE pattern). Flywheel weight: 4.80 kg (10.58 lbs), adapter thickness: 20 mm (0.78").

The adapter installation manual covers only the core knowledge necessary for the physical mating of the engine and gearbox outside the vehicle body.
Depending on the chassis, additional modifications may be required, including adapting engine mounts, transmission crossmembers, firewall clearance, transmission tunnel clearance, propshaft length, etc.
We manufacture our adapters exclusively from fully recyclable materials.
Installation Instructions
Installation of the flywheel requires the starter ring gear / flexplate from the Volvo automatic version – OE 1275370 and bolts Volvo OE 9454743 (not included in the kit). Install the clutch release fork on the lower position of the release bearing (when using a dual-position release bearing). A 240 mm clutch disc with a 32.5x35-26N spline dedicated to the GS6-53DZ gearbox must be used. The GS6-53DZ HGA (E46 330d) and GS6X53DZ HGB (xDrive) gearboxes mount to the adapter following the same bolt pattern as the M57 GS5-39DZ gearbox – according to the M57 gearbox installation diagram, whereas HGD, JGA, HGE, and JGB gearboxes mount according to the M57N gearbox diagram. To mount the adapter, use a Volvo OE 1 005 821 977 starter motor (not included in the kit). The clutch release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit – reuse them from your existing gearbox.

The remaining gearboxes (HGD, JGA, HGE, JGB) mount according to the M57N diagram.

Which clutch pressure plate fits the PMC flywheel?
A 240 mm (9.45") BMW OE type clutch pressure plate – from BMW M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3, Sachs XTend 3000 951 952 (M57N / M57N2), Sachs XTend 3000 951 949 (N54 / N55), or Sachs Performance 883082.001243. ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – any aftermarket pressure plate must fit the BMW OE flywheel pattern (M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). For the GS6-53DZ gearbox, a 240 mm clutch disc with a 32.5x35-26N spline, along with the dedicated clutch release assembly and slave cylinder, must be used.

Can I use the adapter with another BMW gearbox, such as the GS6-53BZ?
Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits the vast majority of BMW manual gearboxes (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). In case of changing the gearbox model, you only need to swap the flywheel and clutch disc.
Does the adapter also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?
Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW transmissions (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel is replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter plate.
What is included in the kit?
An aluminum gearbox adapter plate (20 mm) with mounting bolts, a custom PMC Motorsport flywheel with a replaceable friction plate (4.80 kg / 10.58 lbs), crankshaft bolts, and pressure plate bolts. The clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit and must be matched to your gearbox.
Can I purchase only the adapter plate or only the flywheel?
Yes. Each individual element of the kit can be purchased separately.
Does the price include customs duty for shipments outside the European Union?

Is the included instruction manual sufficient for full installation?
The manual describes mating the engine and gearbox outside the vehicle body. Depending on the car chassis, custom fabrication may be necessary: engine/transmission mounts, bushings, firewall modifications, transmission tunnel clearance, propshaft length. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
Please note that a lightweight single-mass flywheel provides uncompromising throttle response and engine revving dynamics at the expense of factory vibration damping. This delivers a more direct drivetrain feel, which can lead to a natural increase in audible gear rattle / chatter from the gearbox mechanisms. This is a normal, expected characteristic in motorsport applications, resulting from a rigid connection between the engine and drivetrain.
