PMC Motorsport adapters are not only a conversion from automatic to manual gearbox in cars with the Volvo White block engine, but also support in completing a Volvo T5 / T6 swap in BMW and other rear-wheel drive vehicles.
The aluminum gearbox adapter has been designed to simplify gearbox installation as much as possible, avoiding radical actions such as cutting off the entire bellhousing – only preparing the starter motor hole remains. Custom flywheels dedicated to PMC Motorsport adapters are made of aluminum with a replaceable friction surface, checked and balanced before shipment. Flywheel designed for a 240 mm pressure plate (BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3 OE). Flywheel weight: 4.8 kg (10.6 lbs), adapter thickness: 20 mm (0.78").

PMC Motorsport parts are intended for motorsport, for track use.
Installation should be performed by professionals with knowledge of engine swaps and car modifications – in workshops and using properly adapted tools.
Assembly instructions for the adapter contain only basic knowledge necessary to physically connect the engine to the gearbox outside the car body.
Depending on the specific car, additional modifications may be required, such as adjusting mounts, engine mounts/bushings, firewall, gearbox tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.
We make adapters from 100% recyclable materials.
Installation instructions
To install the flywheel, it is necessary to use the automatic version flywheel (ring gear) Volvo OE 1275370 (not included). Volvo OE 9454743 bolts are required to secure the flywheel (not included).
Use a Volvo OE 1 005 821 977 starter motor for adapter installation (not included).
In ZF-5 (ZF 310 / ZF 320) and Getrag 250 / 420G gearboxes, two upper holes in the gearbox housing (bellhousing) must be slightly ground down – this modification does not affect the engine and gearbox centering.
Release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit: release bearing BMW OE 21 51 7 521 360 (1-position) or 21 51 7 570 154 (2-position), clutch fork BMW OE 21 51 1 223 302 (1-position) or 21 51 7 564 027 (2-position), slave cylinder BMW OE 21 52 1 164 529 (Ø 23.81 mm).

Which gearboxes fit the adapter?
For 5-speed ZF-5 (ZF S5D-310 / ZF 310 and ZF S5D-320 / ZF 320) and Getrag S5D-250G gearboxes from BMW with M50 / M52 / M54 / S50 / S52 / S54 engines (e.g. E36 328i, E46 328i / 328Ci / 330i, E34 525i, E39 525i / 528i / 530i, Z3 2.8i / 3.0i), as well as for the 6-speed Getrag 420G (TBAB, TAGU) gearbox from BMW E36 M3 (S50). The flywheel does not fit the 6-speed BMW M54 gearbox.
Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?
No. The adapter is designed to avoid cutting the bellhousing – only the starter motor opening needs to be prepared.
Does the ZF-5 / Getrag gearbox fit all holes of the adapter?
The PMC Motorsport adapter is the most universal adapter available on the market, supporting virtually every BMW gearbox. In designing it, we decided on certain compromises – in Getrag 250 / Getrag 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF-5 gearboxes, two top holes in the gearbox housing (bellhousing) need to be gently ground down. This modification does not affect the engine and gearbox centering.
What additional parts do I need to buy for installation?
Automatic version ring gear (flywheel) Volvo – OE 1275370, bolts Volvo OE 9454743, and starter motor Volvo OE 1 005 821 977. You also need a 240 mm clutch pressure plate and clutch disc (23x29-10N), release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder dedicated to the ZF-5 / Getrag gearbox. These parts are not included in the kit.

Which clutch pressure plate fits the PMC flywheel?
A 240 mm (9.45") pressure plate BMW OE type – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3, Sachs XTend 3000 951 877 (BMW M57), or Sachs Performance 883082.001243. ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also frequently used – custom pressure plates must fit the BMW OE flywheel (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). For the ZF-5 gearbox, use a 240 mm clutch disc with a 23x29-10N spline, dedicated release system kit, and slave cylinder.
Can I use the adapter with a 6-speed GS6-53DZ / GS6-53BZ gearbox?
Yes. The PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapters manufactured after 2022). When changing the gearbox, simply replace the flywheel and clutch disc.
Does the adapter also fit the automatic ZF 8HP gearbox?
Yes. The PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapters manufactured after 2022). When converting to an automatic ZF 8HP gearbox, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP flexplate adapter.
What does the kit include?

Are the included instructions sufficient for installation?
The instructions describe joining the engine and gearbox outside the body shell. Depending on the car, additional modifications may be needed: mounts, bushings, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length. We recommend installation by professionals.
It is worth remembering that a lightweight rigid flywheel provides uncompromised throttle response at the expense of eliminating factory damping elements. This results in a more direct drivetrain operation, which may lead to a natural increase in audible gear mechanism noise. This is a desirable characteristic in sports vehicles resulting from the rigid connection between engine and drive.
