Installation Manual

Bolt the flywheel to the crankshaft using the supplied bolts, torqued to 130 Nm (95.9 lb⋅ft) using threadlocker. Mount the clutch fork on the lower release bearing position (for dual-position bearings). A BMW M50 / M52 / M54 starter motor (not included) must be used with this adapter – prepare an opening for the starter motor in the transmission bellhousing.

A 240 mm pressure plate and clutch disc with a spline profile dedicated to your gearbox (for GS6-53DZ: 32.5x35-26N), clutch release bearing, clutch fork, and clutch slave cylinder dedicated to your gearbox, and a BMW M50 / M52 / M54 starter motor (see question below). These parts are not included in the kit.

Which clutch pressure plate fits the PMC flywheel?

A 240 mm (9.45") BMW OE type pressure plate – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 (including the factory GS6-53DZ pressure plate) / N54 / B58 / E46 M3 or Sachs Performance 883082.001243, as well as Sachs XTend 3000 951 952 (M57N / M57N2) and Sachs XTend 3000 951 949 (N54 / N55). ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – any aftermarket pressure plate must fit the BMW OE flywheel pattern (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). Use a clutch disc matching your transmission input shaft spline, along with the corresponding release bearing setup and slave cylinder.

Which starter motor should be used?

A BMW M50 / M52 / M54 starter motor – e.g., BMW OE 12 41 1 466 102, 12 41 1 712 937, 12 41 1 715 238, 12 41 1 735 524, 12 41 1 738 602, 12 41 1 738 604, 12 41 1 740 375, 12 41 1 740 378, 12 41 1 740 379, 12 41 2 344 247, or 12 41 2 354 709. The starter motor is not included in the kit.

Does this adapter also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW transmissions (applies to adapters produced after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter plate.

What is included in the kit?

Aluminum gearbox adapter plate with mounting bolts, custom PMC Motorsport flywheel with replaceable friction surface, crankshaft bolts, pressure plate mounting bolts, and clutch ball pivot pin – replacement for BMW OE 21 51 1 223 328. The clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included and must be selected to match your gearbox.

No. The product price and shipping quote do not include customs duties or import taxes that may apply in the recipient's country.

Is the included manual sufficient for the complete swap?

The manual describes mating the engine to the transmission outside the car. Depending on your chassis, additional modifications may be required: engine mounts, bushings, firewall modifications, transmission tunnel clearance, and driveshaft length. We recommend professional installation.

Please note that a lightweight single-mass flywheel provides uncompromising throttle response at the expense of eliminating factory damping elements. This results in a more direct drivetrain operation, which may naturally increase gear chatter and mechanical transmission noise. This is a normal and expected characteristic in motorsport applications, resulting from the rigid mechanical connection between engine and drivetrain.
