Installation Instructions

For flywheel installation, it is required to use the automatic flexplate / starter ring gear Toyota OE 32101-30090 or 32101-22050 and a 4.5 mm spacer washer between the engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-22020 (not included). Torque the flywheel to the crankshaft using the supplied bolts to 72 Nm (53.1 lb⋅ft) with threadlocker. Install the clutch release fork from the kit in the lower release bearing position (in case of a two-position bearing). For adapter installation, use a Toyota JZ starter motor without a nose cone / pinion shield – see details in the FAQ section. The release bearing and clutch fork are included in the kit. Clutch slave cylinder is not included – a slave cylinder dedicated to your transmission must be used.

Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?

No. The adapter is designed to avoid cutting the bellhousing – you only need to prepare an opening for the starter motor.

What extra parts do I need to buy for installation?

Automatic Toyota 1JZ / 2JZ flexplate / ring gear, OE 32101-30090 or 32101-22050, and one 4.5 mm spacer washer between engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-22020. You also need a clutch slave cylinder specific to your gearbox and a Toyota JZ starter motor (see question below). These parts are not included in the kit.

What clutch is included in the kit?

BMW 240 mm (9.45") non self-adjusting clutch pressure plate and rigid 240 mm PMC clutch disc with sintered metal (cerametallic) friction pads, with 32.5x35-26N spline (26 teeth) for ZF GS6-53BZ gearbox. The kit is completed with a release bearing and clutch fork.

What torque capacity does the Drift Stage 2 kit handle?

The maximum torque capacity of the kit is 700 Nm (516 lb⋅ft).

Is the kit suitable for a daily driver?

The Drift Stage 2 kit with a rigid sintered disc is primarily intended for motorsport – the clutch operates firmer and less smoothly than an organic disc. For a daily driven car, we recommend the Stage 1 kit with the Sachs XTend clutch.

Can I use a different clutch?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport flywheel is designed for 240 mm BMW OE style pressure plates – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3 or Sachs Performance 883082.001243. ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – custom pressure plates must fit BMW OE flywheels (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58).

Which starter motor should be used?

Toyota JZ starter motor without a nose cone / pinion shield. Installation method depends on the adapter version:

a) adapters produced up to 2022 – starter is installed identically to original equipment (OE);

b) adapters produced from 2022 to 2025 – one of the starter mounting holes in the engine block must be reamed to a diameter of ∅12.9–13.2 mm (0.507"–0.520") to a depth of 22 mm (0.866"), then use the bushing from kit AN 335-M10 and bolt it with an ISO 4762-M10x35 bolt;

c) adapters manufactured from January 2025 – enlarge the lower mounting hole in the starter motor to a diameter of ∅12–13 mm and thread the engine block to M12x1.5.

Does the adapter plate also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.

What does the kit include?

Can I buy just the adapter plate or just the flywheel?

Yes. Every item in the kit is available separately – including just the adapter plate with flywheel, without clutch kit.

No. The product price and shipping quote do not include customs duties or additional fees that may apply in the recipient's country.

Can I buy with 0% VAT?

Is the supplied manual sufficient for installation?

The manual covers mating the engine and transmission outside the vehicle body. Depending on the car model, additional modifications may be required: engine mounts, bushings, firewall clearance, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length. We recommend professional installation.

It is worth noting that a lightweight single-mass flywheel provides an uncompromising throttle response at the cost of eliminating factory damping components. This results in a more direct drivetrain operation, which may lead to a natural increase in gear noise from the transmission. This is a desired characteristic in sports vehicles resulting from the rigid connection between engine and drivetrain
