Installing the flywheel requires the automatic transmission flywheel (flexplate / ring gear) Mercedes-Benz OE 112 032 02 47 (not included). Crankshaft bolts are included in the kit.

To mount the adapter plate, use the original Mercedes-Benz M112 / M113 starter motor (OE, not included). Mount the included clutch fork on the lower release bearing position (in the case of a dual-position bearing). Petrol engine gearboxes (ZF-5, Getrag 250G / 420G) and diesel gearboxes (GS5-39DZ) share the same bolt pattern but feature different mounting angles on the adapter – ensure the ZF-5 / Getrag gearbox is bolted in the position designated for petrol transmissions. If the gearbox sits at the wrong angle after bolt tightening, correct the installation.

Mount the clutch fork on the lower release bearing position (in the case of a 2-position bearing).

On ZF-5 (ZF 310 / ZF 320) and Getrag 250 / 420G gearboxes, the two upper holes in the gearbox housing (bellhousing) must be slightly ground – this modification does not affect the concentricity and alignment of the engine and gearbox.

The release bearing and clutch fork are included in the kit. The clutch slave cylinder is not included in the kit – required clutch slave cylinder BMW OE 21 52 1 164 529 (Ø 23.81 mm).

Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?

No. The adapter plate is designed to eliminate the need to cut the bellhousing – you only need to prepare a clearance notch/opening for the starter motor.

Does the ZF-5 / Getrag gearbox fit into all adapter holes?

The PMC Motorsport adapter plate is the most versatile adapter on the market, accommodating virtually every BMW gearbox. When designing it, we made certain compromises – on Getrag 250 / Getrag 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF-5 gearboxes, the two upper holes in the gearbox housing (bellhousing) must be slightly ground down. This modification does not affect the alignment and centering of the engine and gearbox.

Can I use a different clutch?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport flywheel is designed for a 240 mm BMW OE type pressure plate – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3, Sachs XTend 3000 951 877 (BMW M57), or Sachs Performance 883082.001243. ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – any aftermarket pressure plate must fit the BMW OE flywheel pattern. For the ZF-5 gearbox, use a 240 mm clutch disc with a 23x29-10N spline.

Can I use this adapter plate with a 6-speed GS6-53DZ / GS6-53BZ gearbox?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapters manufactured after 2022). If you switch to another gearbox model, you only need to replace the flywheel and clutch disc.

Does the adapter plate also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW transmissions (applies to adapters manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel is replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.

The manual describes mating the engine and gearbox outside the vehicle body. Depending on the car chassis, additional modifications may be required: mounts, bushings, firewall clearance, transmission tunnel shaping, driveshaft length adjustments. We recommend installation by professionals.

Please note that a lightweight single-mass flywheel provides uncompromising throttle response at the expense of eliminating factory damping elements. This results in more direct drivetrain operation, which may naturally increase gear rollover noise from transmission mechanisms. This is a normal, desired characteristic in motorsport vehicles resulting from the rigid mechanical connection between the engine and drivetrain.
