The flywheel is made of aluminum and cast iron and is fully recyclable.

! Custom flywheel requires the use of a ring gear / flywheel from a Toyota JZ automatic - not included in the kit!

FAQ

1. Which starter should be used with the PMC Motorsport Toyota JZ 1JZ 2JZ - BMW adapter?

For mounting the adapter, a Toyota JZ starter without an additional pinion cover should be used. Depending on the version of the Toyota JZ 1JZ 2JZ - BMW adapter you have, there are three ways to mount the starter:

a) Adapters produced until 2022 - The starter is mounted identically to the original equipment (OE).

b) Adapters produced from 2022 to 2025 - One of the starter mounting holes in the engine block must be enlarged. The hole should be drilled to a diameter of ∅12.9-13.2 mm (0.507"-0.520") to a depth of 22 mm (0.866"). Then, the bushing from the AN 335-M10 kit should be used and fastened with an ISO4762-M10x35 screw.

c) Adapters manufactured from January 2025 onwards - The lower mounting hole in the starter needs to be enlarged to a diameter of ∅12-13 mm and the engine block needs to be threaded for M12x1.5.

2. Which ring gear should be used with the PMC Motorsport Toyota JZ 1JZ 2JZ - BMW flywheel?

When installing the PMC Motorsport Toyota JZ 1JZ 2JZ - BMW flywheel, a ring gear (flywheel) from the automatic version of Toyota 1JZ / 2JZ (OE number: 32101-30090 | 32101-22050) and one Toyota spacer washer (OE number: 32116-22020) with a thickness of 4.5 mm should be used between the engine block and the ring gear.

3. The GETRAG 250 / GETRAG 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF5 gearbox does not fit into all holes of the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter.

(Applies to adapters produced after 2022) The PMC Motorsport adapter is the most universal adapter on the market, supporting almost every BMW gearbox. When designing the adapter, we decided on some compromises. This is the case with GETRAG 250 / GETRAG 420 / ZF 310 / ZF 320 / ZF5 gearboxes, where two upper holes need to be slightly ground in the gearbox housing/bellhousing. This modification does not affect the centering of the engine and gearbox.

4. Can I use the gearbox adapter with the 6-speed GS6-53DZ / GS6-53BZ gearbox?

Yes, the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes available on the market (applies to adapters produced after 2022). If you want to change the gearbox, you only need to replace the flywheel and clutch disc.

5. Can I use the PMC Motorsport Toyota 1JZ 2JZ - BMW gearbox adapter for ZF 8HP?

Yes, the PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes available on the market (applies to adapters produced after 2022). If you want to change the gearbox to an automatic ZF 8HP gearbox, you should replace the standard flywheel with an 8HP converter adapter (PMC Motorsport).

6. Which clutch can I use with the PMC Motorsport flywheel?

The Toyota 1JZ 2JZ - BMW ZF5 flywheel is designed for clutch pressure plates from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / BMW E46 M3 / Sachs Performance 883082.001243. Very often, clutches from ACT / Spec / Tanaci are used with our kit (it is important that the custom clutch pressure plate also fits the BMW OE flywheel: BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). For your gearbox, you should use a clutch disc with the appropriate spline, a dedicated release bearing kit, and a slave cylinder.
