Installation Instructions

Bolt the flywheel to the crankshaft using the supplied bolts and torque them to 120 Nm (88.5 lb⋅ft) using threadlocker. Install the clutch release fork on the lower position of the release bearing (when using a dual-position release bearing). A 240 mm clutch disc with a 32.5x35-26N spline dedicated to the GS6-53DZ gearbox must be used. The GS6-53DZ HGA (E46 330d) and GS6X53DZ HGB (xDrive) gearboxes mount to the adapter following the same bolt pattern as the M57 GS5-39DZ gearbox – according to the M57 gearbox installation diagram, whereas HGD, JGA, HGE, and JGB gearboxes mount according to the M57N gearbox diagram. To mount the adapter, use an original Nissan RB starter motor (OE, not included in the kit). The clutch release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit – reuse them from your existing gearbox.

ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – any aftermarket pressure plate must fit the BMW OE flywheel pattern (M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW transmissions (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel is replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter plate.

What is included in the kit?

An aluminum gearbox adapter plate (25 mm) with mounting bolts, a custom PMC Motorsport flywheel with a replaceable friction plate, crankshaft bolts, pressure plate bolts, and a clutch fork pivot pin – replacement for BMW OE 21 51 1 223 328. The clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit and must be matched to your gearbox.

The manual describes mating the engine and gearbox outside the vehicle body. Depending on the car chassis, custom fabrication may be necessary: engine/transmission mounts, bushings, firewall modifications, transmission tunnel clearance, propshaft length. Professional installation is strongly recommended.

Please note that a lightweight single-mass flywheel provides uncompromising throttle response and engine revving dynamics at the expense of factory vibration damping. This delivers a more direct drivetrain feel, which can lead to a natural increase in audible gear rattle / chatter from the gearbox mechanisms. This is a normal, expected characteristic in motorsport applications, resulting from a rigid connection between the engine and drivetrain.
