To install the flywheel, it is necessary to use the flexplate / starter ring gear from automatic version BMW M60 / M62, OE 11 22 1 747 843 (1747843) / 11 22 1 715 646 (1715646) – M60 or OE 11 22 1 741 143 (1741143) / 11 22 1 435 235 (1435235) – M62 (not included). A BMW M60 / M62 starter motor, OE 12 41 1 729 981 (1729981) / 12 41 1 736 921 (1736921), must be used for adapter installation. In the case of an RHD (Right-Hand Drive) engine, an LHD version starter motor must be used and the blanking plate in the engine block must be cut out. Mount the clutch release fork on the lower position of the release bearing (in case of a dual-position bearing).

Clutches from ACT / Spec / Tanaci are also often used – custom pressure plates must fit the BMW OE flywheel (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). Use a 240 mm clutch disc with splines matching your transmission, a dedicated release bearing kit, and a slave cylinder.

Which starter motor should be used?
