Complete Drift Stage 1 clutch kit enabling the mating (swap / conversion) of the Toyota JZ 1JZ 2JZ engine (GE / GTE / FSE, VVT-i and non VVT-i versions) with the ZF GS6-37BZ 6-speed manual transmission used in BMW petrol M54 models (E46 325ti / 330i / 330Ci, E60 / E61 520i / 525i / 530i), as well as its GS6X37BZ xDrive variant (E46 330xi, X3 E83 2.5i / 3.0i, X5 E53 3.0i). Installation Instructions

For flywheel installation, it is required to use the automatic flexplate / starter ring gear Toyota OE 32101-30090 or 32101-22050 and a 4.5 mm spacer washer between the engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-22020 (not included). Torque the flywheel to the crankshaft using the supplied bolts to 72 Nm (53.1 lb⋅ft) with threadlocker. Mount the clutch fork from the kit in the upper release bearing position. Installation of the GS6-37BZ transmission to the adapter plate is carried out in the same way as for the ZF-5 (M50 / M52 / M54) transmission – according to the graphics below. For adapter installation, use a Toyota JZ starter motor without a nose cone / pinion shield – see details in the FAQ section. On the GS6-37BZ gearbox, two upper mounting holes on the bellhousing need to be slightly trimmed/ground – this modification does not affect engine and transmission alignment. Clutch slave cylinder is not included – required BMW OE slave cylinder 21 52 1 164 529 (Ø 23.81 mm).

Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?

No. The adapter is designed to avoid cutting the bellhousing – you only need to prepare an opening for the starter motor.

What extra parts do I need to buy for installation?

Automatic Toyota 1JZ / 2JZ flexplate / ring gear, OE 32101-30090 or 32101-22050, and one 4.5 mm spacer washer between engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-22020. You also need a clutch slave cylinder BMW OE 21 52 1 164 529 (Ø 23.81 mm) and a Toyota JZ starter motor (see question below). These parts are not included in the kit.

Does the GS6-37BZ gearbox align with all mounting holes on the adapter?

The PMC Motorsport adapter plate is the most versatile adapter on the market, supporting virtually every BMW gearbox. In designing it, we made certain compromises – on the GS6-37BZ transmission, similar to the ZF-5, two upper holes on the gearbox bellhousing need to be slightly ground/trimmed. This modification does not affect engine and transmission concentric alignment.

Can I use a different clutch?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport flywheel is designed for 240 mm BMW OE style pressure plates – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58 / E46 M3 or Sachs Performance 883082.001243. ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also commonly used – custom pressure plates must fit BMW OE flywheels (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58). A 240 mm clutch disc with 26.5x29-22N spline must be used for the GS6-37BZ gearbox.

Which starter motor should be used?

Toyota JZ starter motor without a nose cone / pinion shield. Installation method depends on the adapter version:

a) adapters produced up to 2022 – starter is installed identically to original equipment (OE);

b) adapters produced from 2022 to 2025 – one of the starter mounting holes in the engine block must be reamed to a diameter of ∅12.9–13.2 mm (0.507"–0.520") to a depth of 22 mm (0.866"), then use the bushing from kit AN 335-M10 and bolt it with an ISO 4762-M10x35 bolt;

c) adapters manufactured from January 2025 – enlarge the lower mounting hole in the starter motor to a diameter of ∅12–13 mm and thread the engine block to M12x1.5.

Does the adapter plate also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?

Yes. The PMC Motorsport adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapter plates manufactured after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.

What does the kit include?

Is the flywheel balanced?

Yes. Every PMC Motorsport flywheel is balanced before shipping (tolerance 4 g). In case of installing a custom clutch setup, we recommend additional balance checking.

Can I buy just the adapter plate or just the flywheel?

Yes. Every item in the kit is available separately – including just the adapter plate with flywheel, without clutch kit.

Does the price include customs duty for shipments outside the European Union?

No. The product price and shipping quote do not include customs duties or additional fees that may apply in the recipient's country.

Can I buy with 0% VAT?

Is the supplied manual sufficient for installation?

The manual covers mating the engine and transmission outside the vehicle body. Depending on the car model, additional modifications may be required: engine mounts, bushings, firewall clearance, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length. We recommend professional installation.
