Custom flywheels dedicated to PMC Motorsport adapters are made of aluminum with a replaceable steel friction surface, inspected and balanced before shipment. Flywheel designed for a 240 mm (GS5-39DZ / GS6-53DZ / BZ BMW OE) pressure plate. Flywheel weight: 5.1 kg (11.2 lbs), adapter thickness: 20 mm (0.78").

The adapter installation manual contains only basic knowledge necessary to physically connect the engine with the gearbox outside the car body.
Depending on your specific car, additional modifications may occur, such as: adjusting mounts, engine/gearbox mounts, firewall, transmission tunnel, driveshaft length, etc.
We manufacture our adapters using fully recyclable materials.
Installation instructions
For flywheel installation, it is necessary to use the automatic transmission starter ring gear (flexplate) Toyota OE 32101-30090 or 32101-22050 and a 4.5 mm spacer between the engine block and flexplate, Toyota OE 32116-22020 (not included in the kit). Bolt the flywheel to the crankshaft using the included bolts tightened to 72 Nm (53.1 lb⋅ft) with threadlocker. Install the clutch release fork on the lower release bearing position (for a 2-position bearing). A Toyota JZ starter motor without an additional pinion cover must be used for mounting – details in the FAQ section.

Which gearboxes fit the adapter?

Do I need to cut the gearbox bellhousing?
No. The adapter was designed to avoid cutting the bellhousing – you only need to prepare the clearance hole for the starter motor.
Which additional parts do I need to buy for installation?

Which clutch pressure plate fits the PMC flywheel?
A 240 mm (9.45") BMW OE type clutch pressure plate – from BMW M57 / M57N / M57N2 (including stock GS6-53DZ pressure plate) / N54 / B58 / E46 M3 or Sachs Performance 883082.001243, as well as Sachs XTend 3000 951 952 (M57N / M57N2) and Sachs XTend 3000 951 949 (N54 / N55). ACT / Spec / Tanaci clutches are also often used – a non-standard pressure plate must fit under the BMW OE (M57 / M57N / M57N2 / N54 / B58) flywheel pattern. A clutch disc with the appropriate spline, dedicated release bearing set, and slave cylinder must be used for your specific gearbox.
Which starter motor should be used?
Toyota JZ starter motor without an additional pinion cover. The mounting method depends on the adapter version:
a) adapters produced up to 2022 – starter motor installs identically to the original equipment (OE);
b) adapters produced from 2022 to 2025 – one of the starter mounting holes in the engine block must be drilled out to ∅12.9–13.2 mm (0.507"–0.520") to a depth of 22 mm (0.866"), then use the sleeve from the AN 335-M10 kit and bolt with ISO 4762-M10x35 bolt;
c) adapters manufactured from January 2025 – the lower mounting hole in the starter motor must be enlarged to ∅12–13 mm diameter and the engine block tapped to M12x1.5.
Does the adapter also fit the ZF 8HP automatic transmission?
Yes. The PMC Motorsport gearbox adapter plate itself is universal and fits most BMW gearboxes (applies to adapters produced after 2022). When converting to a ZF 8HP automatic transmission, the standard flywheel must be replaced with a PMC Motorsport 8HP torque converter adapter.
What is included in the kit?
Aluminum gearbox adapter plate with mounting bolts, PMC Motorsport custom flywheel with replaceable steel friction surface (5.1 kg / 11.2 lbs), crankshaft bolts, clutch pressure plate mounting bolts, and a ball pin – BMW OE 21 51 1 223 328 replacement. Clutch, release bearing, clutch release fork, and slave cylinder are not included in the kit – they must be selected for your specific gearbox.
Can I buy only the adapter or only the flywheel?
Yes. Every component of the kit is available separately.
Does the price include customs duty for shipments outside the European Union?
No. The product price and shipping estimate do not include customs duties or additional fees that may apply in the recipient's country.
Can I buy with 0% VAT?

Are the included instructions sufficient for installation?
The instructions describe connecting the engine to the gearbox outside the car body. Depending on the vehicle, additional modifications may be required: mounts, bushings, firewall, gearbox tunnel, driveshaft length. We recommend installation by professionals.
It is worth remembering that a lightweight rigid flywheel provides uncompromising throttle response at the expense of eliminating factory damping elements. This translates into a more direct drivetrain operation, which may result in a natural increase in the audibility of gearbox mechanisms. This is a desirable characteristic in sports vehicles, resulting from a rigid connection between the engine and the drive.
